How long does it take for my BioCast Kit mycelium object to grow ?

It takes about 5 days for your object to grow + 3-5 days for skinning and 1-2 for drying

Shelf Life

How long can I keep my BioCast kit before using it ?

You can keep your kit for 7 days before you use it. Break up substrate while keeping the bag closed and then store in a cool place

Storage

How do I store my BioCast Kit ?

In order to make your kit last longer, you can break it up through the bag (intact) and then store in a cold and clean place

PPE

What protective equipment do I need to use my BioCast Kit ?

You will need a pair of gloves (latex or nitrile), a face mask and clean clothes. You can purchase essential PPE with your kit.

Allergies

Can mycelium cause allergies ?

The species used in our kits are actually edible. It is super safe to handle with bare hands, and there is no evidence to show that it can cause any allergies.

Contamination

I have moulds growing on my object, what do I do ?

Our BioCast Kit is completely sterile when it reaches you.

If you notice black, green or red mould on your growing object, please dispose of in a compost or generic waste bin.

Where do you deliver ?

We can only deliver to the UK Mainland due to Brexit regulations. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Shipping Times

Why does it take up to 3 weeks to receive my BioCast Kit ?

All kits are made-to-order to avoid waste. We run batches every 3 weeks, we thank you for your patience !

Kit Consistency

Why does my kit feel quite solid to the touch ?

Mycelium forms strong networks while growing, if your bag feels quite solid, that means it is at. a mature stage. You can still use it by breaking the substrate, making sure you do not pierce the bag before using. The kits have a shelf life of 7 days.

Waste disposal

What should I do with my BioCast bag after I use it ?

Your BioCast kit comes in an autoclavable bag which are sadly not yet recyclable. Please dispose of in your regular generic waste bin
